Have six years experience as a plumbing contractor, plumber, or plumber's apprentice with at least two of those years as a plumbing contractor or plumber. On March 29, 2021 the Plumbing and Mechanical Systems Board convened and voted to extend the 2020 renewal period for an additional two months. It is anticipated that this will be the final extension given by the PMSB for the 2020 renewal.However, the PMSB will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments if necessary. All licenses will still have an expiration date listed as June 30, 2020. All licenses with an expiration date of June 30, 2020 shall still be valid for practice until July 1, 2021 or the expiration of the proclamation, whichever is later.
All individual plumbers in Minnesota must be licensed or registered with our agency. Businesses that contract with consumers to provide plumbers plumbing services must have a plumbing contractor license. Licensed plumbing contractors carry a surety bond and liability insurance.

When plumbing problems arise on your commercial or business property, calling a licensed plumber is the recommended course of action. A plumber with the proper training and experience has the ability to evaluate the situation and provide a fair and accurate assessment of what needs to be done. It’s better to hire a certified plumber rather than choosing a handyman or plumber without the correct credentials or experience, as a licensed plumber is experienced in their specific field.

Before applying for an LLP license, check with the local code enforcement to make sure this license is accepted for obtaining permits for inspections.
